SP ladies down 0-2 in district, face uphill battle
The South Panola Lady Tigers slowpitch softball team is 4-5 overall and 0-2 district after a shutout by Cleveland Monday afternoon.
Cleveland downed the Lady Tigers 5-0 in non-district action.
Last Thursday, the Lady Tigers lost in district action to Grenada 9-3. Grenada had a 9-0 lead going into the bottom of the fourth inning. The Lady Tigers scored three runs in the fourth.
South Panola was scheduled to play Independence yesterday, but head coach Kim Wilson was not sure it would be played due to the rain.
The Lady Tigers will be on the road for the next two games. Tuesday, they will play in Byhalia.
Tuesday, September 25, the Lady Tigers will host Greenville in district action. The last district game of the season will be played Thursday, September 27. South Panola will travel to Grenada.
“We are not out of this by a long shot,” Wilson said.
If South Panola defeats Greenville, the two teams will be tied for second place in the district. The tie will be broken by the team which scored the most runs.
