Local powerlifters excel in competition

Eight local powerlifting competitors lifted a combined total of 2,835 pounds at the Redline Fitness Center in Cleveland.

The power lifters work out at the Tri-lakes Fitness center.

The competition consisted of 28 power lifters from areas of Grenada, Winona, Cleveland, Greenville and Batesville.  

Jonathan Buford took home the third place trophy in the 230-pound weight division with a lift of 455 pounds.

Chris Woods took home the second place trophy in the 190-pound weight division with a lift of 400 pounds.

Phil Moore took home the first place trophy in the 220-pound weight division with a lift of 430 pounds.

Gerri Lamm took home the third place trophy in the High School division with a lift of 170 pounds. Lil Phil Moore Jr. took home the second place trophy in the Jr. Division with a lift of 190 pounds.

Conor Ferguson took home the first place trophy in the High School Division with a lift of 315 pounds. Ferguson is 16 years old and is known to max out at 335 pounds.

Eugene Lamberth took home the first place trophy in the 250-pound Heavy Weight division with a lift of 500 pounds. Todd Weeks placed third in his weight class with a lift of 475 pounds.
