Thanks to American Legion players, coaches, parents, etc.
Commentary by Gwin Jackson
A big hand goes out to the ones who put this Legion together. This is a note to the people of Panola County in reference to the 13 to 15 year old boys that play under the name City of Batesville/American Legion.
There are about 10 men who take time out of their week to help coach. Thanks also goes to the parents and grandparents that take part in this.
It would not work without you taking part.
These boys who are playing in this league are who we will see on the junior high and high school fields next year.
The park has nice bleachers to sit in but a lot of people brought a lawn chair and sat in the shade. There were food and drinks at the concession stand and clean restrooms also.
I do want to thank the Mayor and the City of Batesville for putting this league together. By the City doing this, it kept these kids off the street doing who knows what. The coaches were great, all showed sportsmanship and the players were men too. All of this could not happen with out the mothers, fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers. Thanks to all of you.
