Sheriff: Suspect in Sardis flees deputies, crashes vehicle

A felony fleeing chase through Sardis ended in a car crash four miles west of Sardis on Highway 315.
On November 11, Deputy Darryl House was at the Dollar General in Sardis where an individual was trying to attack another customer.
According to the report, Deputy House advised the suspect to get back in his vehicle when the suspect threatened to attack him. The suspect jumped back into his vehicle and headed west on East Lee Street as Deputy House followed.
According to the report, the suspect refused to stop and ran two stop signs before losing control of his vehicle and crashing into another vehicle traveling west on Highway 315.
The suspect fled the scene a second time and ran into the woods, according to the report.
Earlier reports from late October include two reports of petit larceny that occured on October 21 and October 27.
Deputy House spoke to a Highway 6 East resident who reported someone went into his farm shed and stole a cutting torch.
A Springport Road resident reported to Deputy House someone stole a camoflauge hunting blind worth $600 from his property.
The Panola County Sheriff’s Office received 22 other reports from residents requesting service from Sheriff Deputies from November 4 to November 9.
November 4
• Individual reported to Lieutenant Willie Harris her brother has been abusing their father. According to the report, the suspect comes into the residence without permission and yells and curses at his father.
Another witness to the abuse states in the report the suspect comes to the residence asking for money and when he doesn’t get it he starts yelling, cursing and throwing objects around the house.
According to the report, the suspect was put off of the property and was asked not to return.
• Deputy House was dispatched to Greenhill Circle in reference to a stolen wallet. According to the report, the resident stated a known individual came to his house, after being told to stay away, and stole his wallet.
• Park Place Road resident reported to Deputy Harold Lewis his wife busted out the back glass of his red Nissan Titan with a lug wrench and drove off in his other vehicle.
According to the report, the resident questioned his wife after she was out all night and she then got angry and busted his window.
ª South Pine Lake Drive resident reported to Deputy Steven Moore she was playing a game in her bedroom when she heard a gunshot.
According to the report, the resident went outside and found her dog dead from a gunshot wound. The resident stated she believes she knows who shot her dog because of threats he’s made in the past about killing her dogs.
The resident stated she recently had another dog disappear on October 30. According to the report, Deputy Moore observed a gunshot wound to the right front shoulder that exited at the lower part of the ribcage. The investigation is ongoing.
November 6
• Deputy Jeremy Hailey responded to the Lake Bottom off Love Joy Road where an indivudual reported a suspect had a gun pulled on a minor.
Upon arriving to the scene the suspect was gone. According to the report, the minor stated he was hit in the face by the suspect who also put a gun to his head. Moments later, Deputy Bill Furniss made a traffic stop on the suspect. According to the report, the suspect was detained and admitted to slapping the minor.
• Nash Road resident stated he came home on November 3 and found the back door to his residence open.
According to the report, there was no damage to the door and the resident later discovered he was missing a Marlin .22 Semi-automatic, .22 bolt action rifle and 20 gauge pump shotgun.
November 7
• Lieutenant Harris responded to Hawkins Road for a report of a husband trying to attack his wife. The wife stated she and her husband got into an argument at their residence about him drinking too much.
According to the report, the wife told her husband she was leaving him and he got upset and began hitting her in the face until she started fighting back.
The wife stated he picked up a cinder block and threatened to hit her with it and she pulled off heading south on Hawkins Road.
According to the report, the husband began hitting her vehicle in the rear with his vehicle until she ran off the road into a fence.
The wife stated the husband passed her and threatened to kill her. The husband fled the scene prior to Lieutenant Harris’ arrival.
• Deputy George Renfro spoke to a Georgia Street resident who reported the suspect was making payments on a horse.
According to the report, the suspect started yelling and shoved the resident nearly to the ground.
The resident stated a witness got between the two in an attempt to keep the suspect from hitting her.
• Nash Road resident reported to Deputy Renfroe the suspect pulled his black Toyota Camry to the suspect’s residece on Highway 6 West to repair the heads on the engine.
According to the report, while in his possession the suspect stripped the vehicle of the battery, catalytic converters, sensors, tires, rims and also ripped the drivers front seat. Investigator Bryan Arnold was notified of the incident.
• Central Academy Road resident reported to Deputy Tripp Williams her ex-husband was sending her threatening text messages.
• Deputy Renfroe investigated a civil matter where a Highway 6 West resident reported an individual was cutting and clearing trees from his property.
November 8
• Investigator Arnold received a report from DHS stating a 15-year-old has been involved in a sexual relationship with a 26-year-old.
According to the report, the mother is supposed to have known about the relationship and let her daughter stay with the suspect.
The daughter as well as her other siblings have been removed from their mother’s care and are currently staying with grandparents.
• Levee Street, Crenshaw resident reported to Deputy Steven McLarty she was at her aunt’s home on Bethlehem Road when an individual grabbed her by the arm and took an envelope containing $200 out of her purse.
The aunt stated her neice has a history of stating someone stole her money. According to the report, the aunt stated she would give her $200 but stated she did not want her back at her house.
The suspect came in and spoke with Deputy McLarty stating he was at the aunts house but at no time did he take any money from the resident.
• Vassar Road, Pope resident reported to Deputy Renfroe his white Dodge truck was stolen.
According to the report, the resident stated two suspects took his keys and left on November 7 without permission. The resident also stated the suspects came in on November 6 with a Vizio TV.
According to the report, the resident was contacted by his son who stated Southaven Police Department contacted him stating the suspects were caught on video stealing the TVs.
The TV was taken into evidence and the vehicle was entered on the National Crime Information Center. Investigator Arnold was notified of the incident.
November 9
• Deputy Moore responded to a burglary on Sullivant Road, Courtland where the resident reported both of her 32”  flat screen TVs and a Dell laptop computer was taken from her residence.
According to the report, the resident believes her sister’s ex-boyfriend is responsible for the stolen items.
