Anthony Floyd Bost
BATESVILLE––Anthony Floyd Bost, 47, died Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Lelore County Hospital.
Services were held Wednesday at St. Peter’s M.B. Church in Sardis. Pastor Odell Draper officiated. Burial was in Bluff Springs Cemetery in Sardis. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.
Bost, born Oct. 2, 1969, in Chicago, to Floyd Lee Bost and Angie M. Joiner Draper, was a self eployed construction worker and a member of Harrisonville M.B. Church.
Survivors include: his mother, Angie Mae Draper of Crownpoint, Ind.; his god-son, Saddam Richardson of Harvey, Ill.; one sister, Nedra Maria Bost of Harvey, Ill.
Lillie Bell Callicutt
SARDIS––Lillie Bell Callicutt, 51, died Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at North Panola High School in Sardis. Visitation will be held today 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Henderson Funeral Home in Sardis. Burial will be held at Pleasant Green Cemetery in Sardis.
Callicutt was born May 15, 1965, in Sardis, to the late Willie Floyd Jones and Birder Lugene Jones.
Deborah “Debbie Lou” Gardner
BATESVILLE––Deborah “Debbie Lou” Gardner, 62, died Thursday, October 13, 2016, at Baptist East in Memphis.
Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary Chapel in Batesville. Pastor Zannie Leland will officiate. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Gardner, born April 24, 1954, in Batesville, to James Matt Cooper and Eva Mae Chapman Cooper, was a member of Coleman Chapel Church in Batesville.
Billy Gwinn Oates Sr.
Billy Gwinn Oates Sr., 76, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.
Services were held Saturday, October 8, in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Hanks officiating. Burial was held at Abbeville Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home had charge.
Born to the late Marion Oliver and Elizabeth Edna Morrison Oates, Mr. Oates was a retired carpenter.
Carl Clephos “Cleo” Norwood
SARDIS––Carl Clephos “Cleo” Norwood, 52, died Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at 4:40 p.m. at Rock Hill Church Cemetery in Sardis. Visitation will be held today from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor Harlen Harris will officiate. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Norwood, born April 16, 1964, in Sardis, to Alander Norwood and Queen Esther Porter Norwood, was a member of Rock Hill M.B. Church in Sardis.
Dovard L. Russell
BATESVILLE––Dovard L. Russell, 85, died Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Golden Living Center in Batesville.
Services will be held today at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Lipe officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until services at the funeral home.
Born to the late Lawrence and Minnie Moore Russell, Mr. Russell was a retired salesman for ADC. He was a member of Clear Creek Baptist Church. He served our country during the Korean War in the United States Army achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Russell’s memory may be made to Clear Creek Cemetery Fund, 46 County Road 313, Oxford, Miss. 38655.
Cleo Strong
BATESVILLE––Cleo Strong, 68, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at his residence.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at The Truth Church, Hwy. 6 East in Batesville. Visitation will be held today from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor Victor McDowell will officiate. Burial will be held at New Hope Church Cemetery in Batesville. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Strong, born Feb. 20, 1948, in Sardis, to Sun Wright and Ida B. Strong, was a retired warehouse worker at Dunlap and Kyle. He was a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Batesville.
Survivors include: two sons, Rico Strong of Batesville and Corvette Fondren of Southaven; nine daughters, Cherell Standford, Denise Strong, Caroline Strong, Lisa Strong, Kimberly Strong, Annie Strong, Tiffany Strong, Brittany Strong, all of Batesville; two brothers, Tommy Strong and Johnny Ray Strong, both of Batesville; 24 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Joseph Lewis Wesley
SARDIS––Joseph Lewis Wesley, 79, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016.
Services will be held Staurday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Sardis. Pastor Cedric Jackson will officiate. Visitation will be held today from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Burial will be held at West Tennessee VA Cemetery in Memphis. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Wesley, born March 20, 1937, in Sardis, to the late John Henry Wesley and Lena Black Wesley, was a retired welder for Ford Motor Company. He was a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Sardis and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion where he served as a trustee.
