The North Delta Pee Wee team played two games against Lee Academy Thursday night before the Junior High game.  They lost both games in heartbreaking fashion.
The first game was more of the older players.  The final score was 6-0.  Each team went back and forth with no progress.
Illegal procedure after illegal procedure made it difficult for each team to sustain a drive.
With the clock under two minutes, Lee Academy heaved up a pass that went through a defender’s hands and fell right into the reciever’s chest.
He then had no one in front of him and sprinted for a 42-yard touchdown with 1:15 left on the clock.
North Delta could not get anything going causing them to fall 6-0.
The younger guys took the field for the second game and saw much of the same for most of the game.
Lee Academy dialed up yet another pass play that earned them a spot on the 13-yard line.  They then punched it in two plays later to go up 6-0.
North Delta seemed to be having a similar end to the game until something breathtaking happened.
John Riley Taylor burst through the first line of the defense.
He then started to outrun the rest of the team until one player started to catch up to him.
Running as fast as he could, Taylor reached the one-yard line where he was finally caught from behind before getting to the endzone as the clock expired.  That was the ballgame.
Lee Academy escaped 6-0 as North Delta was one yard away from tying the game.
