Martha Mae Campbell
SARDIS––Martha Mae Campbell, 67, died Tuesday, June 26, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Rock Hill M.B. Church in Sardis. Pastor Irvin Bishop will offiiciate. Burial will be held in Rock Hill Church Cemetery in Sardis. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.
Campbell, born Jan. 15, 1949, in Batesville, to Charlie Cauthen and Corrine Hamilton Wright, was a homemaker and a member of Rock Hill M.B. Church.
Brenda Gay Kennedy Crocker
OAKLAND- Brenda Gay Kennedy Crocker, 52, died on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.
Services were Thursday, June 30 at Crowder Baptist Church. Burial was in Crowder Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.
Mrs. Crocker was born October 9,1963 to Maxcine Roy Kennedy and John Edward Kennedy in Hernando.
She attended Crowder Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
A.D. Gatewood
A.D. Gatewood, age 81, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at his home in Pope.
Funeral services were held Thursday, June 30, 2016 in the Martin Willingham Memorial Chapel of Wells Funeral Home in Batesville. Interment followed at Forrest Memorial Park. Dr. Gary Berry officiated.
Mr. Gatewood was born November 14, 1934 in Forest, to the late Wyatt C. and Grace Gallaway Gatewood.
He was a retired Mississippi Highway Patrolman after 25 loyal years of service to his State. Mr. Gatewood also honorably served his country in the Korean War while serving in the U.S. Army. He was a faithful member of the Pope Baptist Church in Pope. When he wasn’t working, Mr. Gatewood enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved spending time with his granddaughters.
His loving memory will be cherished most by his loving family, which include, his wife, Joyce Fischer Gatewood of Pope; two daughters, Teresa G. Norman of Batesville, Karen L. Rikard (Randy) of Pope; four granddaughters; Erica Boggan Wilson (Casey), Jessica Boggan Pressgrove (Jason), Brittney Boggan Moore (Corey), Morgan Ann Hardison (Ben) and six great-grandchildren; Grace Wilson, William Wilson, Jackson Pressgrove, Griffin Pressgrove, Porter Gates Moore, and Chaysen Moore.
Mary Craig Hickman
Mary Craig Hickman, age 99, died peaceful at Methodist Hospice Residence on Monday, June 27th. Mary enjoyed her final years at her Memphis home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald H. Hickman and members of the Craig family in Batesville, MS. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Marie Hickman Haggard, of Sherwood, AR and niece, Elizabeth Young, of Acworth, GA.
She has additional family members in Mississippi, Arkansas and Georgia. Mary had many friends from her 30 years of service at Memphis Veterans Hospital. She was also a member of Whitehaven Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, July 5th at 11 a.m. Independent Presbyterian Church’s Sanctuary at 4738 Walnut Grove Road Memphis, TN 38117. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Magnolia Cemetery on Highway 51 South Batesville, MS. Forest Hill Funeral Home, South and Dickins Funeral Home in Batesville will preside over the graveside service.
Otis C. Melton
Otis C. Melton, 85, of Courtland passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at home. Services will be held Saturday, July 2, at 12:00 at Dickins Funeral Home with interment at Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Mr. Melton was born on May 11, 1931, to John Leonard Melton and Donnie Stafford Melton. He was a former mechanic. His hobbies included spending time at his camper, as well as hunting and fishing. He enjoyed watching old western movies, boxing, and FBI shows. He was a member of Courtland Baptist Church.
Mr. Melton is survived by one son, Jerry Melton of Courtland; two daughters, Judy Ray (Elbert) of Courtland, and Barbara Kennedy of Lebanon, MO; one brother, Darrell Melton of Pope; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Melton; one sister, Betty Lou Melton; five brothers, James Melton, Odis Melton, William Melton, Roy Melton, and Doyle Melton; one grandson, Jerry Melton, Jr.; and his parents, John Leonard Melton and Donnie Stafford Melton.
Gerald Walker
Reverend Gerald Walker, age 79, passed away Tuesday evening, June 28, 2016 at his home in Oxford surrounded by his loving family.
There will be a graveside service for Reverend Walker at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport. The family will receive friends graveside at 10:30 prior to the service. Rev. Jimmy Porter will officiate.
Gerald was born April 26, 1937 to the late Herrin Walker and Lena Mae Hover Walker in Gulfport. Gerald served his country in the U.S. Navy Reserves. He was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church in Batesville.
He loved sports and played fast pitch softball until the age of 40. Rev. Walker surrendered to the gospel ministry at the age of 40 and served the Lord faithfully for over 35 years until his health began to fail.
He received his Master of Divinity Degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1989.
Those left behind to cherish his loving memory include his wife Janice Parnell Walker of Oxford, MS, his children; Teresa Walker Pannell of Ft. Worth, TX, and Gerald Herrin Walker, Jr. of Oxford, MS, one brother; Glenn E. Walker of Brandon, MS, 5 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the nurses and aids at Camellia Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Gerald, especially DeAnna, Melissa and Tammy.

Carolyn Sue O’Quinn Wilson
HORN LAKE––Carolyn Sue O’Quinn Wilson, 69, died Sunday, June 26, 2016, at her residence.
Services were held Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Sardis Lake Baptist Church Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Wilson, born Oct. 26, 1947, to the late Louis O’Neal O’Quinn and Emma Frances Franks O’Quinn in Hayti, Mo., was a homemaker.
