JV Systems claims 10u Dogtag championship

JV Systems retired league champions Clark Insurance in the first round of the Dogtag Tournament at J. P. Hudson Park Tuesday evening. Then in the championship game JV Systems downed Buffy’s on the Square 8-6 to claim the 10-and-under title.
JV Systems took a 6-0 lead into the bottom of the third inning. Abby White, KK Hubbard and AK Wolfe all singled. White scored on an RBI single by Wolfe. The other two scored they took a 3-0 lead.
In top of the second, No. 16 tripled and scored on an RBI single by Anna Dover. A single by White, drove home Dover and advanced Alyssa Talley to second base, who had singled to get on base. Talley worked her way around the bases to score for the 6-0 lead.
Buffy’s made up ground in bottom of the third inning to cut the lead 6-3. Haylee Cadena singled to get on base and scored after Anne Finke and Presley Callihan both singled to get on base and scored the next two runs.
For JV Systems, Lindy Ward singled and worked her way home in top of the fourth for the 7-3 lead. Then White tripled in top of the fifth and scored on an RBI single by Hubbard for the team’s final run.
Buffy’s Paizlee Woods singled in bottom of the fourth and scored on a Cecil Cate Bolton RBI double. Buffy’s made a push in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two runs.
Presley singled and Briana Bateman doubled to get on base. Both scored on a De’nijhia “DD” Thomas triple who was stranded at third as the final batter grounded out to second to end the game.
JV Systems vs. Clark Insurance
JV Systems defeated Clark Insurance 13-12 to earn a spot in the Dogtag championship. The lead changed hands three times and was tied at seven and at 10.
The game was a little late getting started because the pitching machine would not work. Therefore, the coaches had to pitch in this age group tournament while the sun beamed down hot after a rainy morning.
In bottom of the fifth, the game was tied at 10. Clark added two runs in the sixth on runs by Liza Clark and Sydney Ford. Both singled to get on base.
JV Systems answered with runs by Abby White, Wolfe and Morgan Joyner. White and Joyner singled while Wolfe doubled to get on base.
Buffy’s On The Square 7 vs. Batesville Dentistry 5
In the second game of the day, Buffy’s defeated Batesville Dentistry 7-5.
The game was tied at five going into the top of the fifth inning. Emma Morris broke the tie for Buffy’s when she singled and scored on a DD Thomas single RBI. Thomas scored the last run, which turned out to be the winning run, on a single RBI by Anne Finke.
