Neal qualifies for state

By Will Dickins
North Delta track and field had two participants travel to Lee Academy (Clarksdale) for the North State meet Wednesday.

Peyton Neal competed in the long jump and Caroline Parnell took part in the long jump and high jump. Neal started his event at 10 a.m. and qualified for state after finishing in fourth with a jump of 14’1.5”.  The third place contestant finished with a distance of only one-fourth inchå higher.
The state meet is in Jackson next Friday, May 6.

After an hour of cold wind and rain, the girls’ high jump started.  Parnell made it through two rounds before missing by centimeters on the 4’8” high jump. It has been a thorn in her side each meet and got the best of her once again Wednesday.
