BJH splits DH with Oxford

The Batesville Junior High baseball team evened its record at 2-2 on the season by splitting a doubleheader at Oxford Monday night.
Oxford cruised past the Tigers 11-3 in game one as Bowen Williams and Dre Moore led Batesville offensively with a pair of singles. Dawson Griffin, Wes Morgan, Caleb White, Caleb Lantern and Gunner Ward all provided singles. White drove in two runs while Brett Goss added one RBI in the defeat
Williams took the loss on the mound despite giving up one earned run in three innings of work. Williams struck out five and walked two. Moore surrendered four runs on eight hits while walking one and fanning two batters in one inning on the hill.
The Tigers bounced back with a 3-1 win in game two as Morgan, White and Williams drove in runs. Denver Brown, Blaine Cosby, Griffin, White and Williams all collected singles. Griffin picked up the pitching win by fanning three batters and giving up one run one two hits in two innings. White also tossed two innings in relief, striking out two and giving up a pair of hits.
Batesville will return to the baseball diamond March 21 when they host Oxford beginning at 5 p.m.
