Mental Health patient threatens to shoot if approached
City and county law enforcement officials responded en masse Wednesday when a mental health patient missing medication responded to a commitment attempt by threatening to shoot if approached. Officers prepared for the worst but defused the resistance by talking to the patient and establishing a rapport that convinced the patient to change her mind, according to Deputy Sheriff Edward Dickson (above, right) leaving the scene on Cole Drive with Deputy Dean Jones in a far more relaxed mood than when they arrived.
