Focus on history

In a Black History Month program Tuesday at Millcreek School, Reginald Jones, LaVontae Cox and Chris Collins performed a skit about African American inventors. LaVontae is showing classmates, parents and guests a photo of Sarah Boone who invented the ironing board in 1887. Also pictured is Millcreek teacher Pamverly Green.
The program ended with students and guests singing “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” a song selected in 1919 by the NAACP as the “Negro National Anthem” for its power in voicing affirmation for African-American people.
