“We needed this win,” said North Delta head coach Brandon Ciaramitaro, after North Delta defeated West Memphis 54-7.
The Green Wave team was coming off a tough 2014 season where it went 3-8.
North Delta set the tone for the night as junior quarterback Will Kidder flipped the ball to sophomore Kaleb Joyner who took the ball 49-yards for the touchdown.
The Green Wave built a 47-0 lead with 3:38 left in the second quarter.
With 2:19 left in the first half, lightning lit up the skies and the game went into a weather delay for 30 minutes.
The time was run off the clock and used for halftime. A running clock was used for the second half as the Green Wave got in one more score and West Memphis was able to avoid the shut out.
North Delta travels to Magnolia Heights next Friday for a rival matchup at 7 p.m.
