‘Fest weekend anticipated by fans of running, music, food

Panola County is gearing up for its biggest festival weekend — the two-day May SpringFest that starts Friday, May 15.

With Springfest comes the eighth annual Racing for Paws 5K fundraiser for the Panola County Humane Society.

The music starts Friday night at 6 p.m. With Harmony followed by The Mustache Band. Friday night’s closer will be Class Act.

Runners and walkers will leave the starting line at 8 a.m. Saturday, following the traditional, certified course through Batesville city streets and finishing at the Panola Avenue entrance to the Downtown Square.

At 10:30 a.m. Saturday, the Young Professionals of Panola will present their Youth Talent Show.
The Eric Deaton Trio will take the stage following the talent show. Acts to follow include Lynn Drury, The Litigants, Amy Nicole and the Zydeco Soul, Stone Gas Blues Band, George McConnell and the Nonchalants and David Fanning.

Headliner Diamond Rio will close the Springfest weekend.
