ND snaps losing streaks

Both North Delta basketball teams snapped modest losing streaks Thursday night with a pair of wins over North Sunflower.

In the varsity girls’ contest, the Lady Green Wave ended its two-game slide with a 39-11 rout of the Rebels. Shelby Province garnered 15 points and five rebounds for North Delta who improved their record to 11-6 on the season.

Megan Bollinger followed with eight points and five rebounds while Ginger Stephens added seven points, nine rebounds and two steals. Lauren Snyder chipped in with three points and four assists. Janie Brasell registered four points, three assists and three steals. Mary Emily Morris rounded out the scoring with two points.

Lindsey Douglas did not figure into the scoring but led the defense with four steals.
The North Delta boys ended its three-game losing streak with a 46-39 victory to raise their record to 5-10 on the campaign.

North Delta played at Kirk Friday and will hosts Bayou today at 3 p.m. and Desoto, Ark. Thursday at 4 p.m.
