Wilner D. Bolden
SLEDGE— Wilner D. Bolden, 61, died Friday, January 2, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Sledge. Burial will be in Falcon Cemetery. Delta Burial Corporation has charge.
Edna “Nanny” Foster Casteel
CHATTANOOGA — Edna “Nanny” Foster Casteel, 84, died Saturday, January 3, 2015. She was the mother of Pastor Ed Casteel of Batesville.
Services were Tuesday, Jan. 6 at the Chatanooga Funeral Home North Chapel, who had charge of arrangements. Interment followed in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
She was a member of Red Bank Church of Christ for over 60 years. She was retired from Miller Brothers Department Store where she served as an administrator.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Charles Robert Casteel.
In addition to her son, she is survived by two daughters, Charlene Slatton and Beverly Jones; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Judy McCarty
MARKS––Judy McCarty, 69, formerly of Courtland, died Sunday, January 4, 2015 in Marks.
Graveside services were held Wednesday at Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rowdy and Evelyn McCarty.
Survivors include: three sisters, Mary Jane Davis of Sledge, Linda Melton and Betty M. Bailey, both of Courtland; brothers Tony McCarty of Batesville, Johnny McCarty of Leakesville, Ricky McCarty and Randy McCarty of Sardis.
Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
Jessie G. McGehee
SARDIS–– Jessie G. McGehee, 90, died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Sardis Community Nursing Home.
Services were held Tuesday at Ray Nowell Funeral Home Chapel in Sardis, who had charge of arrangements. Graveside services were held Wednesday at Maple Hill Cemetery in Huntsville, Ala.
McGehee was born on May 2, 1924 in Oakland, to the late Bertha Lillian Kibler Green and John Robert Green Sr., was a member of Winchester Church of Christ in Huntsville, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” K. McGehee.
Survivors include: her sister, Mary Elizabeth G. Merriman of Sardis.

Ella Mae Tate Walton
MARKS––Ella Mae Tate Walton, 59, died December 28, 2014, at Quitman County Hospital.
Services were held Saturday, January 3 at Silent Grove M. B. Church in Marks. Burial was in Booker Cemetery. Pastor Jimmy Glasper officiated. Cooley’s Mortuary had charge.
Walton, born Dec. 16, 1955, in Quitman County, to the late Johnnie Tate and Lenora Sanders Tate, was a homemaker and a member of Greater Concord M.B. Church in Batesville.
Survivors include: two sons, Timothy Walton and Ricky Walton, both of Marks; two daughters, Carolyn Walton of Marks and Diana Davis of Horn Lake; five brothers, Sammy Tate, R.L. Tate, Milton E. Tate, Frank Edward Tate, all of Chicago and Billy Ray Tate of Pope; four sisters, Lula B. Tate of Marks, Lula Mae Mitchell of Memphis, Johnnie Burgess and Molly B. Carter, both of Chicago and 10 grandchildren.
James Young White
OXFORD – James Young White Sr., 66, formerly of Panola, died Friday, January 2, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi.
Services will be held today at 1 p.m. at Tallahatchie Oxford Missionary Baptist Association Building. Rev. Jamuel Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Yacona Cemetery in Taylor. Hodges Funeral Home of Oxford has charge.
He is army veteran and a member of North Hopewell M.B. Church, where he was a deacon. He retired as a maintenance employee from the Oxford City School District.
Survivors included his wife, Rutha White of Oxford; two daughters, Angela Williams of Abbeville; Malissia White of Oxford; two sons, Jammie White of Oxford; James White Jr. of Oklahoma City; four brothers, Leon White and C.M. White, Jr., both of Oxford; Calvin White and Charles Sledge, both of Batesville; nine sisters, Velma White of Denton, Texas; Mary Wilson of Junction City, Kan., Rosie Williams of Batesville, Margaret Burnett, Hiburnia Anderson, Levarne Jones, Ethel Price, Reathy Butler and Emma Mbise, all of Oxford; and eight grandchildren.
John Wayne West
NEW ALBANY–– John Wayne West, 80, died Thursday, January 1, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was the father of Sabrina Ann West Morris of Batesville.
Services were held Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in New Albany with the Rev. Barry Male officiating. Burial was in the Vista Memorial Park. United Funeral Service in New Albany had charge.
He was born October 17, 1934, in Union County to the late John Cyrus West and Mary Emily Daniel West. He graduated from New Albany High School, attended the University of Mississippi where he lettered in four years of football, and was then drafted by the New York Giants. He was retired from the USDA and Neel-Schaffer as project engineer. He was a Mason, a member of the New Albany Civitan Club, a lifetime member of the “M” Club, and a member of the Ole Miss Alumni Association. West was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in New Albany where he chaired many church committees.
Survivors, along with his daughter, include: his wife, Rheta Ann West of New Albany; daughter, Amanda Grace West of Oxford; and three grandchildren, Mary Emily Morris, Martha Elizabeth Morris and Robert Reid Morris IV.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of New Albany.
