State Representative Nolan Mettetal said that he is looking forward to seeking re-election to represent Mississippi Representative District 10, which includes nine precincts in south Panola County.
“In the House we made an effort to eliminate split precincts,” said Mettetal, a Republican who was elected to his first House term in 2011 after serving in the Senate since 1996.
As a result, the Courtland precinct is no longer divided into two representative districts, but the reapportionment also moved the Courtland precinct to District 11, Mettetal said.
Tocowa, also formerly a splint precinct, is now included in District 10 as are the Enid and Teasdale precincts in Tallahatchie County.
The new District 10 will also include additional Lafayette County precincts, bringing the total there to nine.
Mettetal is also a Registered Pharmacist. In the Mississippi House, he chairs the Universities and Colleges Committee. Other committee assignments include Appropriations, Banking and Financial Services, Corrections, Medicaid, Public Property, Public Utilities, Select Committee on Railway Development and Workforce Development.
