Sardis Walmart store to open Wednesday morning with ribbon-cutting ceremony
Sardis will again have a grocery store when Walmart opens its Neighborhood Market on East Lee St. Wednesday. A brief ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 7:30 a.m. The store will be open seven days a week and will offer fresh produce and meats, frozen foods, groceries, pharmacy items, health and beauty aids, pet products and cleaning supplies.
Patrick Hooks is the manager of the 12,000-sq. ft store.
He began his career with Walmart in 2004 as an assistant manager.
The new store employs about 30 full and part-time associates.
The grand opening celebration will include presentations of grants from Walmart to local community groups.
In addition, the store plans to host a Big Family Welcome Saturday, from noon until 3 p.m. There will be family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating, and free food samples.
