Scheduled to arrive in Batesville Saturday is an eighteen-wheeler carrying boxes packed with food, clothes and toys for needy families in this area.

The distribution is organized by the non-profit Gifts of Love, affiliated with Memphis-based A-One Staffing.

The truck will arrive at the Batesville Civic Center around 10 a.m., according to Cathy Wortham of Gifts of Love.

The gifts will be distributed to families from Batesville, Pope, Crenshaw, Sledge, Lambert, Clarksdale, and the surrounding areas of the Mississippi Delta, Wortham said.

This is the tenth year the group has furnished food baskets to the rural areas of the Delta, and each year it has expanded to reach more people, she said.

Organizations and individuals partner with Gifts of Love by donating non-perishable food items, clothes, toys and toiletries.
