Sardis’ new Walmart Neighborhood Market will open Wednesday, Dec. 17, following a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7:30 a.m.
The new store is located at 420 E. Lee St. and is open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The store offers a broad assortment of merchandise including fresh produce and meats, frozen foods, groceries and pharmacy.
“We have been working hard to prepare our store for the grand opening,” said store manager Patrick Hooks. “We hope to be able to provide Sardis residents with a new, pleasant shopping experience.”
The new store is approximately 12,000 square feet and offers a wide assortment to meet the needs of Sardis residents. In addition to groceries, the store features health and beauty aids, pet products and cleaning supplies.
The new store employs approximately 30 full- and part-time associates. Store manager Patrick Hooks began his Walmart career in 2004 as an assistant manager.
“The Sardis Chamber of Commerce is excited to welcome Walmart Neighborhood Market to our community,” said Penny Hart, executive secretary of the Sardis Chamber of Commerce. “We look forward to having the convenience of a market in our town, along with the job opportunities that it brings.”
The grand-opening celebration includes presentations of grants from Walmart to local community groups.
Another celebration is planned for Saturday, December 20, when the store will host a Big Family Welcome to give customers a chance to meet Hooks and enjoy fun family activities such as face painting, cupcake decorating and free food samples while supplies last. Join the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.
