A Crimestoppers’ tip led authorities to a home in southern Tate County Tuesday where they arrested Johnny Lloyd of Como after an hour’s standoff.

Deputy U. S. Marshal Clint Roberson said that the fugitive surrendered when officers threatened to send a trained dog into the residence to subdue him.

The officers are members of the U. S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force that extends the reach of local law enforcement agencies across jurisdictional boundaries.

Lloyd was placed in the Panola County jail late Tuesday afternoon where he await action of the Grand Jury.

Authorities were seeking Lloyd, 41 on an October, 2013 warrant charging him with statutory rape, stepping up their efforts over the last two months after learning he was probably in the Como area, Roberson said.

In early May, a story in The Panolian and photos posted to the Facebook pages of the newspaper and the Panola County Sheriff’s Dept. urged anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers, the program that offers cash rewards to people who provide credible information that leads to criminal arrests.
