The South Panola Summer league baseball season came to a exciting conclusion Thursday afternoon as the Tigers rallied for three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to edge Senatobia 6-5 in the second game of a double header. South Panola blanked the Warriors 12-0 in the opening contest.

Kyle Weaver, who had earlier reached base on an infield single, raced home from third with the winning run on a throwing error by the Senatobia catcher to end the game.

Trey McGovern’s leadoff walk got the inning started before a Chris Cassiday single put runners on first and third. McGovern later scored as leadoff batter Turner Rotenberry reached second on an error to trim the Warrior lead to 5-4. Then  with Hunter Bryant at the plate, Rotenberry used his speed to tie the game at five by scoring on a ground out to first.

Weaver then beat out an infield single before stealing second and third base then raced home following an errant throw into left field by the Warrior catcher.

Senatobia grabbed a 4-0 lead in the second that was highlighted by a Stone Parrish three-run home run to left field. South Panola closed the margin to 4-3 with a single run in the third and two in the fourth before the Warriors added a run in the fifth.

Both teams registered five hits in the contest as Bryant, Weaver, Chase Durham, Cassiday and Gage Aldison all provided singles for South Panola. The used five pitchers in the game as McGovern, Cole Rotenberry, Bryant, Durham and Turner Rotenberry tossed one inning each.

The opening game was no contest as the Tigers used a seven-run first inning to coast to the victory. Cole Rotenberry and Zack Hopper drove in a pair of runs each with back-to-back doubles in the frame while Weaver provided a RBI single.

South Panola added three runs in the third to go up 10-0 as Turner Rotenberry blasted a RBI triple then later scored on a wild pitch. The Tigers ended the game the two runs in the fourth on Durham’s two-run single scored Justin Bolton and Turner Rotenberry. Anderson Wilder towed the rubber for three innings before giving way to Bolton who fanned two batters in a scoreless fourth inning.
