A head-on collision between two trucks on Murphy Ridge Road Wednesday claimed the life of Perry Hignite, 979 Highway 6 West, Oxford.

Hignite, 65, was driving a Nissan pickup when he collided with a Ford F-250 towing a boat and trailer and driven by Donald Perkins of Batesville, Panola County Deputy Sheriff John Still said. Perkins received minor injuries.

“That little old Murphy Ridge Road is like a snake and they met in a curve,” Still said.

The accident occurred about 12:30 p.m. Hignite was transported to Tri-Lakes Medical Center where Panola County Coroner Gracie Grant-Gulledge pronounced him dead.
