Youth around town are gearing up for the inaugural ‘First and Goal’ youth football mini-camp sponsored by Michael Oher of the Tennessee Titans.

Oher and longtime friend Jamarca Sanford of Batesville return to town to give the youth a day of fun and excitement while doing a few football drills and spending time with other NFL players.

Also scheduled to be at the camp are brothers Peria Jerry and John Jerry, also of Batesville.

The camps will be held Saturday, June 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the South Panola High School field in the Robert H. Dunlap Stadium.

This free camp is expected to draw over 200 youths who will learn valuable lessons from the professionals. Kids will learn the fundamentals of football as well as leadership development, team building and self-improvement skills at the free youth football camp.

Michael Oher said, “At a very young age, children face a lot of challenges in life. Sports help them learn essential life skills such as patience, hard work, how to take instructions, interacting with others, as well as how to deal with adversity. This camp is our way of joining in and extending a helping hand in making a difference in our community.”
