Funeral director says officers’ escorts increase safety, shows respect for families

I want to thank the law enforcement community of Panola County for the service they unselfishly give on a daily basis; however, I want to thank them specifically for a service they provide that seems to be fading in many areas, including many nearby and surrounding cities and counties.

Providing police driven funeral escorts for our families is much more than just a service.  Times have changed.  There’s a higher regard held for funeral processions here in the south; however, still not to the level that it once was. Aside from the safety concern, their regimented efforts are one of the most touching symbols of respect, and the law enforcement agencies in Panola County are the finest examples of providing this final respect.  They truly go above and beyond to provide our families with this service.

I can’t begin to count the number of times that our families have commented on how much they appreciated  the sheriff’s department and police department for all they did.  “Touching, professional, impressive, and respectful,” are just some of the words that we most often hear from families referring to funeral escorts and traffic control.

To Sheriff Dennis Darby, Chief Tony Jones and Chief Martin, along with your dedicated officers and staff, thank you for continuing to provide such a respectful service and symbol of safety to the families that we serve.  We also want to recognize the dispatchers and staff who assist in coordinating this service.  We want you to know that the efforts that your respective departments put forth each day do not go unnoticed.

On behalf of our families, thank you.

Sincerely,
