A Field Street resident appears to have become the latest victim in a string of Batesville burglaries that began in November.
The burglary at 105 Field Street between 6:05 a.m. and 5:10 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, follows a similar pattern to 12 prior burglaries during a three-month period between Panola Avenue and Tubbs Road: While the resident is away, usually during daytime hours, burglars gain entry by breaking through a glass window or door at the back of a home.
The homes have been found ransacked with only select items taken: X Boxes, flat screen TVs, Playstations, and small tools, Batesville Police Dept. Detective Captain Paul Shivers said earlier this month.
Last Friday’s victim on Field Street found that only containers of loose change had been taken, though “his home had been ransacked,” Patrolman Jon Horton’s report stated.
Police took fingerprints and made photos, according to the report.
Though police have identified suspects, Shivers told The Panolian Jan. 17.
“We haven’t had what we need to tie this together,” Deputy Police Chief Don Province said.
A cash reward will be paid to anyone who provides useful information that catches the burglars and helps recover stolen merchandise, according to police. A person can remain anonymous. Contact the Batesville Police Department at 563-5653.
