South Panola High School teacher and coach Charlie Howard is also an avid gardener, and Thursday he impressed students with an 87 pound watermelon from his garden. Among the admirers were (from left) Tarnischa Campbell, Angel Aguilar, LaBrittinee Roberson, Matthew Williams, Trey Tedford and Demetrius Gleaton. Howard attributed the supersized melon to “good Delta soil.”
