Hundreds of friends, co-workers and church members lined Quail Run Road and Turtle Creek Drive to wish leukemia patient and former coach Robert Lightsey well Tuesday afternoon when he was taken to West Clinic in Memphis for further test and treatment. Lightsey retired from South Panola Schools where among other duties, he served as high school baseball coach and also junior high football coach where he and “co-coach” Pete Robertson led their teams to several undefeated seasons feeding South Panola’s dynasty fresh players annually.
Lightsey currently serves as municipal parks director for the City of Batesville.
