BATESVILLE –– Anna Boyles, 68, died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at her residence.

L.P. Buford

COMO –– L.P. Buford, 61, died Friday, March 22, 2013, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Hunter Chapel M.B. Church in Como. Burial will be Gravelspring Cemetery on O.B. McClinton Road in Senatobia. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.

He was a construction worker.

Survivors include: two daughters, Lamonica L. Maxwell of Como and Jaiesha F. Gardner of Senatobia; three sons, Keith B. Allen of Millington, Tenn., Demetrick D. Buford and Greg N. Johnson, both of Senatobia; three sisters, Gloria Hoskin of Danville, Ill., Patricia Lewis and Jeanette Lewis, both of Como; four brothers, Robert Lee Buford and Jerry Onidas, both of Como, Ollie Lee Buford and Jimmy Buford, both of Senatobia and Charles Hoskin of Danville, Ill.

Ruth A. Colson

Ruth A. Colson, 74, died Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Desoto.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Forrest Memorial Park in Batesville. Visiation will be held at 10 a.m. until serivce time. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Colson, born October 7, 1938 in Lambert, to the late Maurice and Myrtle Tutor Applewhite,  graduated from Crowder High School in 1956 and went on to attend the Memphis School of Commerce. She was a retired bookkeeper and accountant. Mrs. Colson was a faithful member of Enon Baptist Church in Batesville, MS.

Survivors include: her husband, David Lee Colson of Batesville; daughter, Angela Colson of Southaven; twin children, Cheryl Colson of Brighton, Tenn. and Deryl Colson of Atlanta; two sisters, Helen Willis of Southaven, Glenda Bruce of of Olive Branch and her brother, Billy Applewhite Sr. of Batesville.

The family requests anyone wishing to send memorials in Mrs. Colson memory, to forward those to Enon Baptist Church, 7216 Dummyline Rd., Batesville, Miss. 38606.

LAMBERT –– Shirley Eads, 69, died Sunday, March 24, 2013, at her residence.

Memorial services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Crowder Assembly of God Church. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.

Emmaline Hoskins Lewis Hawk

BATESVILLE –– Emmaline Hoskins Lewis Hawk, 87, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center. 

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at New Bethlehem M.B. Church in Batesville. Rev. Zannie Leland will officiate. Visitation will be held today from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Hawk, born Dec. 9, 1925, in Batesville, to the late Hollis Hoskins Sr. and Ardellia Baker Hoskins, was an assembly line worker at Ford Motor Company and a member of New Mt. Hermon Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Richard Jerome Lewis of Ypsilanti, Mich. and Everett Marvin Lewis Jr. of Hammond, Ind.; one sister, Patricia Hoskins Brown of Clarksdale; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Laddie Glen “Lad” Rogers

SARDIS — Laddie Glen “Lad” Rogers, 59, died Sunday, March 24, 2013, at his residence.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Forrest Hill East Cemetery, Whitten Rd. in Memphis. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Rogers was born to James Robert and Bobbie Wren Rice Rogers in Memphis on May 30, 1953. He was an electrician with IBW Electrical Local 474 in Memphis. Before working in Memphis, he was employed in Page, Ariz. at the Navajo Generation Station during it’s construction in the 1970’s. While there, he thoroughly enjoyed the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, Brice Canyon and Zion National Park.

His survivors include his wife, Victoria “Vikki” Candelaria Rogers of Sardis; two sons, Jason Rogers of Edinburg, Texas and Kris Rogers of Memphis; one brother, Mike Rogers of Collierville, and his in-laws, Victor and Helen Candelaria of LeChee, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Jace Everette Rogers, Avery Wren Rogers, Holden Kross Rogers and Hayle K. Stansell.

Howard Shields

Howard Shields, age 85, widower of the late Mary Louise Shields, died Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Providence Assisted Living Home in Senatobia.

Memorial services will be held today at 7:30 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

Shields, born Aug. 1, 1927, in Memphis, to Clifton and Birdie Mae Shields, entered the United States Navy in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1947. He worked as a maintenance man and was a Pentecostal by faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Shields, one daughter, Carolyn Shields Montalvo and a granddaughter, Alex Shields

Survivors include, his daughter, Billie Ruth Shields Collier of Horn Lake; one son, Gene Shields of Water Valley; two sisters, Laverne Adams of Silver Creek, and Birdie Gehbaurer of Thibodaux La.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Patrick Corey Tallant

BATESVILLE –– Patrick Corey Tallant, age 35, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center in Batesville.

Dewayne Williams

Dewayne Williams, 49, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013, at Baptist Hospital East in Memphis. He was the husband of Sherry Burns Williams and the father of Maggie Williams of Batesville. He was employed by Custom Signs.

He was the brother of Terry Williams, Linda Joiner and Jimmy Williams, all of Batesville and Sheila Simmons and Mike Williams, both of Vicksburg.
