Legislative Day set for Thursday

Panola Partnership’s annual Legislative Day, set for Thursday, will focus on economic development and legislative topics during morning sessions. But the afternoon is reserved for fun, with a golf tournament and skeet shoot, followed by an evening reception.

All sessions are open to Partnership members and non-members alike. The morning sessions, to be held at the Batesville Civic Center, are free and begin with coffee at 8:30 a.m.

Speakers for the 9 a.m. session are Jamie Kennedy, TVA Economic Development consultant, and Mickey Milligan of Mississippi Development Authority’s Existing Industry and Business Division.

At 10 a.m., Greg Word, manager of technical / graphic services for North Mississippi Industrial Development Association, will speak.

During the 11 a.m. segment, speakers will be Steve Hale, Mississippi State Senator from District 10, and Rep. Greg Snowden, Speaker Pro Tempore, Mississippi House of Representatives.

Afternoon and evening events require tickets which may be obtained from Panola Partnership at 563-3126.

A luncheon will be held at noon at the Panola Country Club. Ten teams have already signed up for the golf scramble, which starts at 1:30 p.m. About a dozen have registered for the skeet shoot, to be hosted by Frank and Lenore West at 1:30 p.m.

A reception will be held at the Country Club from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
