Bobby “Bob” Ray Best Jr.

ENID – Bobby “Bob” Ray Best Jr., 46, died Monday, November 28, 2011.

Memorial services were held Thursday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Marty Evans and Rev. Tommy Darby officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Best, born Aug. 27, 1965, in Memphis, to Dyan Melton Best Jenkins of Oakland and the late Bobby Ray Best Sr., was a country store merchant and a self employed roofer.

Survivors in addition to his  mother include: his wife Paula Turner Best of Oakland; two step-daughters, Amanda Bennett of Meadville, Penn. and Keri Bennett of Coffeeville; one step-son, Neal Bennett of Oakland; two sisters, Wanda Best Smallwood and Bonita Best Turner, both of Oakland; his half-sister, Linda Faye Best Greif of Nashville; one brother, Stacy Christopher Best of Enid; one step-brother, Bobby Joe Dees of Nashville; and three grandchildren.

Terence “Terry” D’Wayne Bingham

COMO – Terence “Terry” D’Wayne Bingham, 49, died Saturday, November 19, 2011, at Schwabinger Krankenhaus Hospital in Munich, Germany.

Services were held Sunday, November 27, at Cistern Hill M.B. Church in Como with interment in church cemetery.  Felix Cauthen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Bingham was born April 8, 1962, in Como, to the late Louis C. Bingham Sr. and Arilla Lomax Bingham. He was a member of the Cistern Hill Baptist Church He attended schools in Panola County.  While in high school, he was a member of the band, where he played the trumpet. He also played football. He received his Bachelors degree from Mississippi State University. While in college he majored in Architectural Engineering and minored in Art.

After graduation he held several notable positions in the field of Architecture with firms in Memphis, Atlanta, and New York, After moving to Munich, he worked for the Polo Ralph Lauren company Maximilian Strasse for many years in several capacities.

Survivors include: brother, Louis C. Bingham, Jr. of Como; one sister, Angela C. Bingham of Memphis.

Harry Hobart Harrell

AMARILLO – Harry Hobart Harrell, 84, died Thursday, November 24, 2011. He was the brother of Nancy Jane Aven and Freddie Lee Foshee, both of Courtland.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at National Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time with burial in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. National Funeral Home has charge.

Harrell, born in Montogomery County, Miss., Oct. 30, 1927, to the late Chester Claud and Jimmie Mae Long Harrell Foshee, attended Jefferson Davis Elementary School in Greenwood, Vaiden Junior High and Marks and Darlin High Schools before graduating from Batesville High School.

He was drafted into the Army and deployed to Korea where he made the Inchon, South Korea and Wonson, North Korea landings going behind enemy lines, in the latter case attached to the First Marines.

In 1956 he graduated from Delta State University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration.
He was an employee for General Electric Credit and spent 16 years with Southwestern Investment Company and 20 years as  real estate salesperson. He also owned and managed residential property for 41 years. He was a member of Pala Duro Masonic Lodge, York Rite Masonic Lodge and Khiva Masonic Shrine Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Jane Zimpfer

Survivors along with his sister and brother include: one daughter, Sarah Jane Harrell Williamson; two sisters, Ruby Fay Kennedy of Jackson, Mary C. Henderson of Water Valley; one brother, Chester T. Harrell of Clarksdale and three grandchildren.

Ron Holland

COMO – Ron Holland, 67, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Saturday at Wells Funeral Home. Dr. Johnny Spencer will officiate. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park with military honors. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Holland, born July 3, 1944, in Temple, Texas, to Dan Carl and Lois Sanders Barton, was retired from Batesville Company and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving his country in the Marine Corps.

Survivors include: his wife, Martha “Cissy” Tutor Holland of Pope; one daughter, Jennifer Holland Respess of Pope; one son, Danny Holland of Salem, Ark.; one sister, Regina Barton Barton Bigler of Federal Way, Wash. and four grandchildren.

Donald Nelson Golden

ENID – Donald Nelson Golden, 66, died Sunday, November 20, 2011 in Greenville.

Services were Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Pope Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Independence. Rev. Richard Wiman, Dr. Gary Berry and Reverend Roger Richards officiated.

Golden, born Jan. 23, 1945 in Coldwater, to the late Preston and Victoria Beatrice Yates Golden, was a Respiratory Therapist at Sardis hospital before it closed and went on to manage Wister Gardens in Belzoni for 15 years as a master gardener.

Don is survived by his wife, Dot Golden of Enid; son, David Golden of Brighton, TN; two daughters, Michelle Golden Gough and Christy Golden Craig both of Brighton, TN; seven grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Shane Hentz

BURBANK, Okla. – Shane Hentz, 36, died Thursday, November 17, 2011 at his residence.  
Hentz was born May 7, 1975 in Memphis to Charles Harold and Earline (Griffin) Blodgett.

He grew up in Cascilla and attended Strider Academy.     

He is survived by his parents; his children, Landon and Logan Hentz of Walls; his brother, Bruce Blodgett of Southaven; and his sister, Stephanie Weaver of Marks; his nieces, Maranda Cobb, Shanna and Brittany Blodgett; his Aunt Cindy Vick and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.   Arrangements are under the direction of Tonkawa Funeral Home, Tonkawa, Oklahoma.

Frances Marie Mitchell

MEMPHIS. – Frances Marie Mitchell, 92, formerly of Batesville, died Monday, November 14, 2011 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

Services were held Thursday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Blackjack Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Mitchell was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Memphis

Shawn A. King

BATESVILLE – Shawn A. King, 33, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were Thursday at Sardis Lake Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Meredith Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale had charge.

He was a member of Sardis Lake Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife Melanie Box King, three daughters Tiffany, Emily, and  Bethany King, all of Batesville; his parents Kevin and Brenda Wilson of  Southaven; one brother Kelly Wilson of Southaven.

Peggy Jane Panzer


POPE – Peggy Jane Panzer, 86,  died Sunday, November 20, 2011, in Delhaven, Wisconsin.

Services were held Thursday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

She was a retired retail clerk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Panzer.

Survivors include two daughters, Gail Panzer Krempel of Delhaven, Wisconsin and Enice Panzer Haney of North Carolina; one sister, Marjorie Hockett of Chatsworth, Calif.; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
