Two men in a blue vehicle apparently attempted to scam an elderly county resident Wednesday, prompting warnings from the Panola County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputy Sheriff Jason Chrestman said that two men, “probably in their 20s or early 30s,” were “trying to run a scam out there around the lake.”
Described as of Hispanic or Indian origin, they were driving what looked like a late model blue Chevrolet Impala. They got into her home and distracted her with a volume of conversation. Eventually, while one of the men continued the conversation, his partner slipped into the home’s bedroom where the homeowner discovered him, Chrestman said.
When a male relative of the intended victim arrived, the men made excuses and left.
Chrestman said anyone with information should call the sheriff’s office at 563-6230.
