Judge Bill McKenzie referred a Batesville man to the grand jury during Wednesday’s session of Batesville Municipal Court Wednesday.

Melvin Holmes, 222 Van Voris, Batesville, was bound over to the grand jury for possession of firearm by a convicted felon.

Alma Nelson, 1053 Hawkins, Courtland, had a simple assault case continued.

Lakisha Rayford, 366 Tony Keating, Batesville, had a simple assault case dismissed after the affiant Mary Brassell failed to appear to answer.

Detrailous Webster, 2585-A Chapel Town, Courtland, had a disorderly conduct charge remanded to the files at the officer’s request.

Quincy Wheatley, 2897 Park Place, Como, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting and fined $1,124.

Kimberly Johnson, 1466 Ponderosa, Lambert, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting from Wal-Mart and false information. She was fined $1,749.

Terri Snyder, 47 Country Club, Charleston, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting lip gloss, t-shirts, mascara and other items from Wal-Mart worth $96.88. She was fined $1,124.

Elizabeth Carpenter, 6545 Hwy. 32 East, Charleston, entered a guilty plea to shoplifting. She was fined $1,124.

Stephan Davis, 5610 15th St., Tuscaloosa, Ala., entered  a guilty plea to shoplifting chicken filet, fish and dipping sauce worth $7.36. He was fined $1,124. Davis spent four days in jail awaiting trial.
He was released after court and had his fines reduced for timed served.
“Stealing is wrong and crime does not pay,” the judge said.

Jerrod Jones, 211 1/2 East, Batesville, had old fines of $430 that have been due since May, 2011. He entered a guilty plea to domestic violence-simple assault and was fined $395.

Johnny Youngblood, 407 Alcorn, Sardis, had old fines of $1,696 that have been due since July 2010.
He was told to have his fines paid in full next Wednesday morning in full.

Cases set for trial

Takelia Burnett, 107 MLK, Batesville, was found guilty of no child restraint and fined $145.

Victoria Conner, 123 Vance St., Batesville, was found guilty of loud music.

Jimmy Martin Jr., 5878 Third Cove, Memphis, was found not guilty of shoplifting.

Deshawn Lockwood, 203 Fisher, Batesville, was found guilty of shoplifting. He was fined $1,124.

Laverne Johnson, 211 Tubbs Rd., Batesville, was fined $764 for no proof of insurance and running a stop sign.

Erick L. Cathey, 631 Katherine Trail, Batesville, was fined $194 for no proof of insurance.
