COMO – Aubrey Dowden, 53, died Saturday, August 27, 2011, at the North Oak Regional Hospital in Senatobia.

Services were held Saturday at at Cistern Hill M.B. in Como. Rev. Cedric Richarddson officiated. He was a veteran of the Navy and retired from Chrysler Corporation. He was an advocate of education assisting with Partners in Education, Educate Center and assisting with school rallies to help with registration and uniforms assistant.

Survivors include: his parents, Sherman and Mary Dowden of Como; three sisters, Emily Dowden and Gwen Carney, both of Chicago, Ill. and Pamela Dowden of Tampa, Fla.; six brothers, Herman Dowden of Atlanta, Franklin Dowden, Donald Dowden, and Randy Dowden, all of Memphis, Larry Dowden of Como and Randy Dowden of Palm Dale, Calif.

BATESVILLE – Lottie S. Sullivan, 83, died Thursday,  September 1, 2011, at Golden Living Center.
Services were held Saturday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery in Enid. Rev. Kevin Crofford officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Sullivan, born Jan. 29, 1928, in Tallahatchie County, to the late Leander R. and Annie Willis Selby Sullivan, was a retired hairstylist and a member of New Hope Church of God.

Survivors include: one daughter, Brenda Jo Sullivan Heathcock of Batesville; three sons, William Donald “Donnie” Sullivan of Batesville, Terry L. Sullivan of Laurel and Kevin Ray Sullivan of Batesville; one sister, Eleanora Selby Moss of Eads, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

BATESVILLE– Kathleen Brassell Wright, 61, retired line operator, died Aug 23, 2011, at her residence.
Services were Saturday, August 26, 2011 at Eureka AME Zion Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Hodges-Freeman Funeral Home, Oxford had charge.

Survivors include: her husband, James “Tot’’ Wright of Batesville; daughter, Mildred Brassell of Batesville; two sisters, Wanda Oliver and Effie Wright of Batesville; two brothers, Larry Brassell, of Water Valley; Robert Lee Brassell of Elaine, Ark. and one grandchild.
