Bobbie Edward Darby
BATESVILLE – Bobby Edward Darby, 45, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Services were held Sunday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Nolan Darby officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Darby was born Feb. 21, 1966, to Bobby Jean Darby and Doris Louise Boothe Darby Redwine.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kayla Darby of Byhalia and Brianna Darby of Arkansas; two sons, Christopher Edward Darby of Batesville and Matthew Darby of Arkansas; his mother and step-father, William T. and Doris Louise Redwine of Batesville; two sisters, Regina Jaco of Batesville and Tammy Redwine of Batesville; two grandchildren, Christen Belle Darby and Preston Darby, both of Batesville.
Karrie Martin Hernandez
BATESVILLE – Karrie Martin Hernandez, 40, died Friday, July 15, 2011 at Baptist Memorial Hospital -North-Mississippi.
Services will be held today in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.
Hernandez, born February 7, 1971 in Dallas, Texas to Quiller and Elisa Solis Martin, worked as a housekeeper and attended Yellow Leaf Baptist Church in Oxford.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Hernandez Jr.
Survivors include: her husband, Jerry Hernandez of Batesville; four daughters, Jessica Loer of Princeton, Texas, Lisa Martin, Monica Hernandez and Veronica Hernandez all of Batesville; one son, Nick Netio of San Bernito, Texas; two sisters, Maria Hernandez and Jackie Hernandez both of Oxford; one brother, Romulo Leal of McKinney, Texas; her parents, Qiller Martin and Elisa Solis, and three grandchildren, Adam, Joshua and Moriah.
Charlie F. Higginbotham
Charlie F. Higginbotham, 78, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at his daughter’s home in Southaven.
Services were Monday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Rev. Terry Floyd officiated. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Higginbotham, born Dec. 21, 1932, to the late Charlie Funzo and Verdie Bea Higginbotham, served our country in the U.S. Air Force, being stationed in Greenland from 1951 until 1955. When he returned from service he began his career in painting and retired over 50 years later, having owned his own his own painting business. He was a member of First Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Debbie Higginbotham Richardson of Southaven; one son, Charles Lynn Higginbotham of Batesville; one sister, Lillie Mae Clark of Memphis; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Martha Polk Perkins Pearson
BATESVILLE – Martha Polk Perkins Pearson died of natural causes on Friday, July 15, 2011 at the Allen Morgan Nursing Home in Memphis.
A visitation with the family will be in the parlor at the First United Methodist Church in Batesville from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by graveside services at the Batesville Magnolia Cemetary at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 21. Dickins Funeral Home has charge.
Born in 1921, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Clifford Polk and Sue Holt Perkins, the wife of the late Earl E. (Bud) Pearson, the mother of Earl E. (Gene) Pearson, Jr. of Memphis and Signe Pearson Adams of Cleveland and the grandmother of Gray, Oscar, Andrew, and Albert Adams. She was the great grandmother of Shattuck, Mary Cooper and Mary Kirk Adams.
She was a life long member of First United Methodist Church in Batesville and a member of the United Methodist Women since 1945.
She attended Belhaven College and the University of Mississippi and was associated with “The Panolian” when her uncle, the late R. D. Holt, was owner and editor and when her husband was co-owner and publisher.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to First United Methodist Church or to a favorite charity.
Lula Wimberly
COMO – Lula Wimberly, 94, died Monday, July 11, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Hospital.
Services were Saturday at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Sardis. Rev. Cedric Johnson officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home had charge.
Wimberly, born Oct. 6, 1916, in Sardis, to the late Sid Strickland, was a member of Mt. Zion M.B. Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Florence Brunt of Como and Betty Lofton of Broadville, Ill. and two sons, Jim Hill Jr. of California and Henry James Hill of Sardis.
