Ray Gant

SENATOBIA – Ray Gant, 48, died Sunday, June 19, 2011, at his residence.

Services were held Thursday at Pate-Jones Funeral Home in Senatobia Burial was in Forrest Memorial Cemetery in Batesville. Pate-Jones Funeral Home had charge.

He was preceded in death by his father, Polk Gant.

Survivors include his daughter, Autumn Westmoreland of Sardis; his  mother, Pearl O’Bannon and step-father, Elmer O’Bannon of Sardis; five sisters, Donna Mothershed of Batesville, Debbie Lamar of Sardis, Betty Gant of Como, Tammy Shoale of Senatobia, and Barbara O’Bannon of Jackson; six brothers, Terry Gant and Randy Gant, both of Senatobia, Jack Gant of Sarah, Dennis O’Bannon of Olive Branch, Johnny O’Bannon of Southaven, and Mike O’Bannon of Mo.

Dewitt Hentz

BATESVILLE– Dewitt Hentz, 89, died Sunday, June 19, 2011, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Pastor George Golden will officiate. Visitation will be held today from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Eureka Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Hentz, born June 19, 1922, in Batesville, to the late M.C. “Monk” Hentz and Lois Holmes Hentz was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired City of Batesville employee.

Survivors include: two sisters, Glennie Todd and Dina Hentz, both of Batesville; one sister, Lorrine Chapman of Pope; two brothers, Rev. Jacob Hentz of Batesville and Allen Hentz of Pope; four step-grandchildren; a host of step-great-grandchildren and a host of step-great-great-grandchildren.

Timothy Evans Lewis

    JONESBORO, La. – Mr. Timothy Evans Lewis, formerly of Sardis, died Thursday, June 16, 2011, in Ruston, La. He was 66.
    Services will be held Friday, June 24, at 1 p.m. at Felix Cauthen Funeral Home with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery in Sardis. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
    Lewis worked as car manufacturer engineer for Chrysler Inc.
    Survivors include two sisters, Elvadia Beck and Freda Little both of Sardis.

Linda “Buffy” Morris Terry

SARAH – Linda “Buffy” Gale Morris Terry, 42, died Monday, June 20, 2011, at North Oak Regional Medical Center.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin Crofford officiating. Burial will be in Goodhope Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Terry, born March 18, 1969, to Linda Morrow and Cecil Wayne Morris in Batesville, was a nurse and a member of Flag Lake Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Charlie Wayne Barnette of Hernando, Cecil Payton Barnette of Sarah; her mother, Linda Morrow Strom of Batesville; her father, Wayne Morris of Batesville; her step-mother, Sue Morris of Batesville; one brother, Rusty Johnson of Plantation, Fla.; one step-sister, Melissa Clayton of Batesville; one step-brother, Andy Anderson of Batesville; her companion,  Shelby T. Singleton of Sarah and two daughters, Shelbi R. Singleton and Morgan L. Singleton of Sarah.
