Helen Clark Faulkner

BATESVILLE–Helen Clark Faulkner, 87, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held today at 11 a.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Michael Bates will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Faulkner, born March 23, 1924, in Drew, to the late George Albert and Annie Lee Clark, was a homemaker and a member of Batesville Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward “Ben” Faulkner.

Survivors include: one daughter, Cordelia “Dee” Faulkner Kepler of Batesville; one son, James Edward Faulkner of Potts Camp; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Preston Clay Gaines

BATESVILLE–Preston Clay Gaines, 61, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were held Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Clay Baker officiated. Burial was in Eureka Private Cemetery in Courtland. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Gaines, born March 13, 1950, in Sardis, to Buell Claxton and Virginia Mothershead Gaines, was a farmer and a cattleman. He also worked for McBride Engineering as a surveyor. He was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church in Courtland.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Carson Helms.

Survivors include: his wife, Bennie Baker Gaines of Courtland; two sons, Ben Gaines and Preston Gaines, both of Courtland; one brother, Ron Helms of Courtland; one step-sister, Janice Wardlaw of Madison and two step-brothers, Falcom Helms of Batesville and Earl Helms of Georgia.

Doyle Gene Pearson

BATESVILLE–Doyle Gene Pearson, 59, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services were held Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Pearson, born March 13 1952, in Marks, to Robert Pearson and the late Margaret Borchert Pearson, was the retired owner of Batesville Gun and Pawn Shop and Fox Bail Bonds.

Survivors include: his wife, Jackie Goad Pearson of Courtland; one daughter, Paige Trusty Evans; three sons, Benji Pearson, Michael Pearson and Tony Trusty, all of Batesville; his father and step-mother, Robert and Billye Smith Pearson of Batesville; one brother, Dennis Pearson; two step-sisters, Kathy Smith Sibley of Batesville, Karen Smith Sneed of Olive Branch and three grandchildren, Mary Margaret Pearson, Jack Evans and Emma Dayle’ Evans.

Rosa Herring Maxcy

ENID–Rosa Herring Maxcy, 93, died Thursday, May 26, 2011, at Tallahatchie General Hospital in Charleston.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Dr. Gary Berry will officiate with Rev. Roger Richards assisting. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Maxcy, born Aug. 9, 1917, in Darling, to the late William Bayless and Rosa Ann Pearson Herring, was a librarian, homemaker and a member of Pope Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edward Maxcy.

Survivors include: one daughter, Eleanor Maxcy Bailey of Enid; two sons, William E. Maxcy Jr. of Tupelo and Phillip L. Maxcy of Enid; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Tommy Orlando “Burnside” Walton

COMO–Tommy Orlando “Burnside” Walton, 32, died Thursday, April 28, 2011.

Services were held May 14 at St. Joseph M.B. Church in Crenshaw. Burial was in Shiloh C.M.E. Cemetery in Batesville. Delta Burial had charge of arrangements.

Walton was born March, 15, 1979, to Lillie D. Moore of Como and Tommy White of Crenshaw.

Survivors along with his parents include: five sons, Corey JaShon Norwood, Jordan Taylor, Kameren Taylor, Tommy Orlando Walton Jr. and Tyler Raheem Black; one daughter, Chasity Nikole Walton; five sisters, Yoshanda Sims of Anna, Texas, Tyronda Moore of Pembroke Pines, Fla., April Moore-Black of Como, Tammy White, Lorraine Williams and Francine Ellington, all of Southaven; four brothers, Larry Scott Moore of Como, Tyree Williams of Dallas, Larry “Donnell” Baskins and Timothy Baskins, both of Senatobia and his grandmother, Ida Mamon of Sledge.
