Preston Clay Gaines

BATESVILLE–Preston Clay Gaines, 61, died Sunday, May 22, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Clay Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Eureka Private Cemetery in Courtland. Visitation will be held from noon until service time.  Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Gaines, born March 13, 1950, in Sardis, to Buell Clayton and Virginia Mothershed Gaines, was a farmer and a cattleman. He also worked for McBride Engineering as a surveyor. He was a member of Eureka United Methodist Church in Courtland.

Survivors include: his wife, Bennie Baker Gaines of Courtland; two sons, Ben Gaines and Preston Gaines, both of Courtland; one brother, Ron Helms of Courtland; one step-sister, Janice Wardlaw of Madison and two step-brothers, Falcom Helms of Batesville and Earl Helms of Georgia.

Barbara Ann Criswell Dover

MARKS–Barbara Ann Criswell Dover, 76, died Thursday, May 19, 2011, in Batesville, from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Services were held Monday at Kimbro Funeral Home in Marks. Burial was in Longtown Cemetery. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

Dover, born April 9, 1935, in Arkansas, was a member of the Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Elmer Dover Jr.

Survivors include: seven daughters, Glenda Moore, Pat West, Mary Willard and Vicky Bowles, all of Marks, Pamela Webb of Crowder, Kathy Dover of Batesville and Nita Hadley of Senatobia; three sons, Perry Dover of Senatobia, Randolph Dover and Wesley Dover of Sardis; two brothers, William Criswell of Eupora and Dean Sartin of Yazoo City; three sisters, Faye Massa of Tennessee, Elizabeth Eubanks of Horn Lake and Martha Grille of Nesbit; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Doyle Gene Pearson

Courtland-Doyle Gene Pearson, age 59, died Monday afternoon, May 23, 2011 at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Funeral services for Doyle will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Cemetery. The family will received friends from 5 – 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Wells Funeral Home.

Doyle was born March 13, 1952 in Marks to Robert Pearson and the late Maragaret Borchert Pearson. He was the retired owner of Batesville Gun and Pawn Shop and Fox Bail Bonds. When Doyle was not working, he enjoyed playing golf, the outdoors, but most of all, he enjoyed being with his friends.

He is survived his wife, Jackie Goad Pearson of Courtland; daughter, Paige Trusty Evans; three sons, Benji Pearson, Michael Pearson and Tony Trusty all of Batesville; father and step-mother, Robert and Billye Smith Pearson of Batesville; brother, Dennis Pearson; two step-sisters, Kathy Smith Sibley of Batesville, Karen Smith Sneed of Olive Branch and three grandchildren, Mary Margaret Pearson, Jack Evans and Emma Dayle’ Evans.
