Jimmy Earl Hagood

POPE– Jimmy Earl Hagood, 64, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at his residence.

Services were Thursday at Wells Funeral Home. Rev. Jay Anderson and Rev. Johnny Martin officiated. Burial was in Forrest Memorial Park. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Hagood, born May 15, 1946, to Earl Clement and Catheline Sartain Hagood, in Oakman, Ala., was a truck driver for New Century Production of Allentown, Pa. He was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church of Pope and served his country in the United States Navy.

Survivors include: his wife, Glenda Lawson Hagood of Pope; four daughters, Melissa Hagood May of Hamilton, Ala., Sherry Hagood Treece of Perry, Okla., Belinda Hagood Yarbrough of Carrollton, Ala. and Rita Hagood McCrory of Perry, Okla.; two step-daughters, Monica Carroll of Ozark, Ala. and Stephanie Chambley of Winona; three step-sons, Jamie Tedford, Bradley Tedford and Byron Tedford, all of Batesville; one sister, Carolyn Sue Hagood Skaggs of Haleyville, Ala.; three brothers, Gary Wayne Hagood, Edward Allen Hagood and Roy Milford, all of Haleyville, Ala. and 16 grandchildren.

Dr. Edwin Lee Hudson

BATESVILLE- Dr. Edwin Lee Hudson, 79, died Monday, March 14, 2011.

Services were Wednesday at Dickins Funeral Home. Burial was in Good Hope Cemetery. Dickins Funeral Home had charge.

Hudson, born Dec. 24, 1932, was a Baptist minister for 44 years and a former minister of Good Hope Baptist Church, he was a Master Mason and member of Panola Lodge 66. He served as an Airman Apprentice in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Who’s Who in Mississippi and for two years was second place Best Overall Person.

Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Merle McCullar Hudson; three sons, Ralph Edwin Hudson of Batesville, Wendell Andrew Hudson of Batesville and Merle Lee Hudson of Oxford; one sister, Norma Arnold of Batesville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be sent to Good Hope Cemetery, 1516 Good Hope Road, Batesville, MS 38606.

 Charlotte Annette Murphree Maxey

BRUCE– Charlotte Annette Murphree Maxey, 70, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at her residence.

Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce. Jeff Flake will officiate. Burial will be in Poplar Springs Cemetery in Vardaman. Parker Funeral Home has charge.

Maxey was a retired licensed practical nurse, a member of First Pentecostal Church of Pittsboro.

Survivors include: her husband, Herman Maxey of Bruce; one daughter, Gayla Cheryl Burress of Bruce; two sons, David Randall Henry of Batesville and Jerry Calvin Henry of Stockholm, Sweden; two step-sons, Keith Maxey of Southaven and Kevin Maxey of Coffeeville; one sister, Nancy Elizabeth Lance of Calhoun City; four brothers, Laborn Murphree, Donald Murphree, Danny Murphree, all of Randolph and Steve Murphree of Olive Branch and five grandchildren.

Willie Frances Tullos Morehead

MARKS– Willie Frances Tullos Morehead, 81, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Quitman County Nursing Home. She was the mother of Malcom Morehead of Curtis Station.

Services were Thursday at Goodwill Church of God Worship Center. Rev. Barry Warren, Rev. Jerry Hill and Rev. Matt Hill officiated. Kimbro Funeral Home had charge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Denton Morehead.

Morehead, born Feb. 4, 1930, was a member of Goodwill Church of God Worship Center. She was a homemaker.

Survivors along with her son include: one daughter, Wanda Hester of Marks; two sons, Royal and Milton Morehead of Locke Station; one brother, Odell Tullos of Flordia; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Aubrey Merrill Riley III

SARDIS– Aubrey Merrill Riley III, 55, died Sunday, March 13, 2011.

No services will be held at this time. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Riley, born June 24, 1955, to Betty Langham and Aubrey Merrill Riley II was a heating, ventilation, air conditioning salesman.

Survivors along with his parents include: three sons, Daniel Edward Riley, Joseph Alan Riley and James Brian Riley, all of Horn Lake; one sister, Dana Riley Esser of Nashville, Tenn.; one brother, Michael Riley of South Mills, N.C. and six grandchildren.

Richard Walton

GARY, Ind.– Richard Walton, 73, formerly of Como, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at his residence.

Services will be held Saturday at noon at Mt. Level M.B. Church in Como. Burial will be in Mt. Level Church Cemetery. Felix Cauthen Funeral Home has charge.

Walton was a member of Harmonia M.B. Church in Sardis.

Survivors include: his wife, Una Mae Walton of Gary, Ind;  two daughters, Geraldine Worthy of Bellwood, Ill. and Shawana Osborn of Como; two sons, Marvin Hayes of Bellwood, Ill. and Stanley Walton of Markham, Ill.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

William Hayward West

PARADISE, Calif.– William Hayward West, 60, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at Paradise Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at Marks Cemetery.

West was born Sept. 10, 1950, in Enid, to the late Irvin West and Elizabeth Hayward West.

Survivors include: one sister, Frances Juanita West and her husband, Jim Capponi of Sardis; six cousins, Mary Frances Harmon Woods of Sardis, Hayward Lee Harmon and Bill Harmon, both of Batesville, Martha Toole of Grenada, Sylvia Grant of Oakland and Sarah Wilbourn of Brandon; two nephews, Michael Capponi of California and Bob Capponi of Fort Knox; two great-nephews, Devn Capponi and Shane Wright and two great-nieces, Kirsten Capponi and Jessica Capponi.
