OAKLAND– Jessie David Brasher, 60, died Monday, March 7, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.
Brasher donated his body to Genesis Medical. Memorials may be made to the donors’ choice.
Brasher graduated from Lambert High School, served in the Army, with two tours in Vietnam and received the Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hershel Brasher.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jessica Brasher of Pasadena, Texas; his mother, Marie Schiele Brasher of Lambert; two brothers, Robert Brasher of Lambert and Larry Brasher of Clarksdale; one sister, Dianne Brasher Riley of Flowood.
Ray Howard Leslie Sr.
ENID– Ray Howard Leslie Sr., 48, died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at his residence.
Services were Saturday at Wells Funeral Home. Marty Evans officiated. Burial was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Enid. Wells Funeral Home had charge.
Leslie, born May 12, 1962, in Marks, to the late William Vester and Doris Irwin Leslie, was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and worked for 27 years at American General Construction Company.
Survivors include: his wife, Terry Leslie of Enid; two sons, Larry Quitman Leslie of Horn Lake and JR Leslie of Enid; three sisters, Evelyn Gravitt of Sugar Valley, Ga., Ann Bell of Olive Branch, Rachel Ward of Eugene, Oreg. and Susie Harvell of Memphis; two brothers, Butch Ward of Middleton, Tenn. and Wiley “Skip” Ward of Olive Branch; and three grandchildren.
Faye Russell
SARDIS– Faye “Mama Faye” Russell, 109, died Wednesday, March 9, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.
Services were Saturday at Coleman Funeral Home. Michael Bates and Robert Rawson officiated. Burial was in Toccopola Cemetery. Coleman Funeral Home had charge.
Russell, born in Lafayette Springs, to the late John Flemming and Annie Mills Lauderdale, lived in the Sardis area for the past 16 years and Clarksdale area about 20 years. She was a member of the Batesville Church of Christ. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Alexander Russell; seven children, Van Buren Russell, Marvin Alexander Russell Jr., Fred Russell, Clay Framarini, Ann Percy, Mary DaPrato and Bobby Russell.
Survivors include: two daughters, Bettye Kelly and Sue Slaughter, both of Sardis; three sons, Robert Murray Lauderdale of Bay St. Louis, Jackie Russell of Clarksdale and Bill Russell of Oxford; 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
