Annie Lee Chapman

 BATESVILLE–Annie Lee Chapman, 63, died Monday, January 31, 2011, at Tri-Lakes Medical Center.

Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Shiloh M.B. Church in Courtland. Rev. Carl Brown will officiate. Visitation will be held today from 1 p.m. – 6 p.m. at Eddie Robinson Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Eddie Robinson Funeral Home has charge.

Chapman, born June 24, 1947, to the late J.C. “Buster” Smith and Vonzella Smith, and  was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church where she was an usher. She was a hair dresser and attended Patton Lane High School. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: her husband, Joe Willie Chapman of Batesville; one daughter, Alicia Holmes of Batesville and one son, Willie Chapman of Batesville and five grandchildren.

Jackie Ray Ricks Jr.

 BATESVILLE– Jackie Ray Ricks Jr., 43, died Sunday, January 30, 2011.

Services were Thursday at New Bethel Baptist Church near Carrollton. Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Rev. Joseph Sansing and Rev. J.D. Nester officiated. Lee Funeral Home in Winona had charge.

Ricks, born to the late Jackie Ray Ricks and Elaine Box Ricks, was a welder and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his step-mother, Bobbie Ann Ricks of Carrollton; four sisters, Shonda Phelon of Grenada, Lucresha Ellett of Carrollton, Miranda Brown of Batesville, Lorinda Strickland of Carrollton; two step-sisters, Stephanie Cherry of Carrollton, Tara Byford of Grenada and one step-brother, Thomas Clunan of Carrollton.

William E. Riley Jr.

 BATESVILLE– William E. Riley Jr., 80, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at his residence.

Services were Thursday at First Baptist Church. Dr. Tommy Snyder officiated. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery with full military honors. Wells Funeral Home had charge.

Riley, born Aug. 31, 1930, in Kosciusko, to Ola Eugenia Kennedy and William Riley Sr., was the owner of Quality Auto Parts for over 40 years. He also served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Ann White Riley of Batesville; one daughter, Polly Riley Sorrells of Southaven; one son, William Ross “Wally” Riley of Batesville; two sisters, Christine Crain of Jackson and Joe Avritt of Shaw; one brother, Johnny Riley of Kosciusko; two grandsons, Justin Sorrells of Southaven and Brad Sorrells of Memphis and his great-granddaughter, Emerson Grace Sorrells of Memphis.

Herman Bernard Smith

 BATESVILLE.– Herman Bernard Smith, 54, died Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis.

Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cooley’s Mortuary. Visitation will be held Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Dr. Zannie Leland Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery. Cooley’s Mortuary has charge.

Smith, born Aug. 15, 1956, in Batesville was born to James Lee Smith and Murdis Mae Cade Smith.

Survivors include: his mother, Murdis Mae Smith of Batesville; two sisters, Renita Attaway of Batesville and Maxine McCoy of Oakland, Calif. and three brothers, Luther Attaway III of Batesville, Frank Smith and Norman Kenney Jr., both of Oakland, Calif.

Walter Earl Ware

 BATESVILLE.– Walter Earl Ware, 66, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home with Rev Frank Samples officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Pope.

Ware, born Jan. 25, 1942, in Enid, to Walter Edward and Mary Addie Hutchins Ware, worked in construction.

Survivors include: his wife, Christine Shephard Ware of Batesville; three daughters, Glenda Ware Gee of Tutwiler, Melinda Ware of of Atoka, Tenn. and Angela Ware Hale of Grenada; three sons, David Ware of Gore Springs, Henry Johnson of Batesville and Steve Ware of Southaven; his foster-son, Johnathan Miller of Batesville; three sisters, Eva Ware Bates of Rutland, Ill.; Judie Ware Melton of Senatobia and Beverly Ware Johnson of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Stanley Eugene Ware of Grenada; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Gabriel Norris Wright

 ABBEVILLE– Gabriel Norris Wright, the infant son of Victoria Renee Jones and Norris Ray Wright Jr., died Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Forrest Memorial Park with Rev. Douglas Tutor officiating. Wells Funeral Home has charge.

Gabriel was born February 1, 2011, in Oxford.

Survivors along with his parents include: his sister, Alexis Storme Wright of Abbeville; one brother, Landon Thomas Wright of Abbeville; his grandparents, Myra and Norris Wright of Abbeville, Patricia Jones of Batesville; great-grandparents, David Earl Davis of Lambert, Etta Faye Jones of Batesville and Carmel and Odell Wright of Batesville.
