Self-Inflicted shooting caused erroneous reports

A 75-year-old man died Tuesday morning from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities have said.

The shooting occurred at a residence near John Harmon Road, located north of Batesville near Brewer Road.

The man, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at Tri-Lakes Medical Center, said coroner Gracie Grant-Gulledge.

The shooting spawned erroneous reports that it occurred at W.H. Harmon Industrial Complex in Batesville.

The Batesville Police Department had fielded several phone calls about the shooting, said Deputy Chief Don Province.
