Witnesses at the scene identified Xavier Poole as the driver of the car and stated that Bryon Sholar was with him at Club 51 earlier in the evening where an argument broke out.

Deputies went to Poole’s mother’s home on Lucious Taylor Road to look for the car when, the report said, “Xavier then came home driving a different car,” and said he  had not been in his mother’s car.

Poole was transported to the Panola County jail to meet with Investigator Bill McGee and stated that his sister had been “in the car all night.”

Poole’s sister corroborated the story but, “once she found that she could get charged she then admitted that he (Xavier Poole) was driving the car,” the report stated.

Lieutenant Deputy Billy Lambert who was also on the scene reported, “There was a large hostile crowd on the scene. Deputy Webb and I had a very difficult task trying to get information from anyone at the time while trying  to preserve the crime scene.”

Lambert’s report went on to say that he noticed what appeared to be five bullet holes in the driver’s side of the … (car) the victim was driving … We also took photos of a total of eight empty shell casings… “

Lambert’s report indicated that both vehicles were impounded for investigators.

No charges had been filed at press time as the matter is still under investigation.
