The North Panola Jr. High team took very little time to stop the Pope Jr. High team in the final game of the season for both teams.

North Panola finished the season undefeated (6-0) with a 22-0 shutout of Pope.

North Panola started the game with players who did not have all their pads on. The Cougars had to play two plays with just nine men on the field.

On the first play with nine players on the field, quarterback Jatavious Farmer who was misidentified last week scrambled for 15 yards.

Then on first and 15 from the 50 after a penalty, Justin Conner broke for a 50 yard touchdown run. Farmer connected with Willie Hibbler for the two-point conversion and 8-0 lead.

Cougar Virgal Jones wreaked havoc on the Pope offense as he recorded three tackles in the first two Bulldog possessions.

Pope quarterback Tyler Pogue was connecting on some passes, but they were not for any great yards.

North Panola’s next possession did not see very much positive action. Pope’s Austin Cowert dropped Farmer for an 11-yard sack. Then on third and 17, Pope’s Steven Hill intercepted Farmer’s pass with three minutes to go in the first quarter.

Pope was not able to move that possession and had to punt it away.

In the second quarter, neither team had much luck moving the ball. North Panola’s Conner dropped Pogue for an 11-yard sack. Then on third down, Pope fumbled the ball and North Panola’s Farmer recovered the fumble and returned it 24-yards for a touchdown with 3:41 left in the first half.

Bremarkarkwon Bobo took the pass from Farmer for the two-point conversion as the Cougars led 16-0 at the half.

North Panola fumbled away its first possession in the third quarter and Pope recovered with 4:47 on the clock.

After Pogue went out with an injury, Will Hartzell took over as Pope’s quarterback. He completed five passes for 34 yards to Cowsert, Reggie Morris and Trevor Hawthorne.

North Panola scored its final touchdown on a 56-yard run by Connor who got a big block from Hibbler with 4:53 left in the game. Farmer’s pass to Ventrovious Sanders was incomplete for the two-point attempt.

Pope fumbled the ball away with 2:51 left in the game and North Panola recovered. North Panola fumbled the ball away with 1:51 left in the game and Pope recovered.
