SP 9th shuts out Greenville

The South Panola ninth grade football team shut out Greenville 22-0 Monday afternoon at Robert H. Dunlap Stadium.

With this win the Tigers improved to 5-0 overall on the season.

With 2:05 left in the first quarter, quarterback Bailey Lawrence handed off to tailback DaShawn Lindsey and he scored on a 26-yard run.

Jamarcus Brooks scored the two- point conversion for the 8-0 Tiger lead at the end of the first quarter.

On an 11-yard run, Brady Smith scored with 7:23 left in the first half. Lawrence’s two point conversion gave the Tiger’s a 16-0 lead.

At the 3:15 mark, Brooks bullied his way forward for the eight-yard run for the last touchdown of the game. With the failed two-point conversion, the score stood 22-0 at half and was the final of the game.

Leading the Tigers in tackles was Courtney Porter with six and one caused fumble. Other tacklers include Will Coleman, three; Matthew Davis, Tavian Bibbs and Steven Sanford, two each. Javon Morris, JeMichael Handy, Randre’ Armstead and Tavares Lee all had one tackle each.

Gabriel Lloyd had a fumble recovery and Tavian Bibbs had an interception.

The Tigers will travel to Horn Lake Monday with game time at 5:30. After an open date, they’ll return home on October 18 with a match up with Horn Lake and finish their season October 25 hosting Clarksdale.
