Cowbells win the day

For one season, the SEC ruled Mississippi State fans can openly bring cowbells into their home stadium for the first time in 36 years.

I remember when I was at Mississippi State and this same argument was on, except that year the SEC voted to outlaw the cowbells.

Then new president, Donald Zacharias, got the cowbells back and we could only use them for non-conference games.

Obviously we, as dedicated fans, took that to mean all ball games.

Some people had their’s confiscated and over the years fans have had to use creative measures to get the noise makers in the stands so the teams would realize the fans were “in the house.”

I have always liked cowbells and wondered why other schools do not adopt some noisemaker that is unique to their school. I understand if they are jealous and can’t find anything to top the cowbell.

So, why do we have to conform to them because they have nothing?

Anyway, I am glad the cowbell is out of the closet and can be used legally and forcefully, at least this year.
