Never do I remember a post-season professional football season having so many people conflicted.
Most folks in Mississippi love the Saints. They’ve always been sort of like our home team.
Most folks in Mississippi love Brett Favre. What’s not to love about Favre? Especially after his brilliant season leading the Vikings to the Superdome this weekend.
Strengthening the Vikings bond (and further complicating the angst) is our own Jamarca Sanford in his first year with the Vikings. Gotta love him too, another chapter in the great story of South Panola football.
Our daughter lives in Milwaukee where Favre went from royalty to persona non grata with his premature retirement announcement from Green Bay and subsequent arrival at the Vikings. She said that after hearing her fellow Milwaukeeans so bad-mouth Favre, she has quietly delighted in every brilliant move Favre made this season, especially those against his old team.
And then there’s always the possibility of more angst the following week when the winner of Sunday’s game could be facing Peyton’s team. But that’s too far ahead to worry about now.
There is one area of agreement for all the fans of all the teams and players we’ve mentioned thus far. They are all glad that the Cowboys are out and their season is over!
