Lady Green Wave wins over Marshall; one point victory comes in district action

Sara Waldrip and Bradi Beard scored ten points each to lead North Delta’s varsity girls to a 40-39 victory over Marshall Academy Tuesday night in the  District 1-2A opener for both schools.

Lauren Kimzey followed with eight points while Linsey Hebert added five. Other scorers included Madison Greenlee with four points and Katelyn Still with two. With the victory, the Lady Green Wave improved to 7-5 overall and 1-0 in district play.

The North Delta junior high Lady Green Wave was also victorious by the score of 48-17 as Erin Snider and Charla Shea Darby led the way with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Julianna Morrow added seven while Hastings Neal and Courtney DuBravec added four each. Claire Gant, Madison Atkinson, Grayson Sims, Callie Blake Masterson and Kendall Morrow all registered two points.

North Delta’s seventh grade girls squad also came away with a 11-7 victory.

In the varsity boys contest, the No. 4 ranked Patriots outscored North Delta 39-12 in the second half to take a 70-44 victory. The Green Wave, (1-3; 0-1) who led 32-31 at halftime, got 10 points from Chris Brown.  Jim Tom Copeland followed with nine points while Geri Lamm chipped in with eight. Corbin Baker added five while Tres Brasell, Ethan Frink and Ethan Taylor all had two points.

North Delta returns to action tomorrow at Delta starting at 2 p.m then will host Kirk Monday starting at 3:30 with junior high girls and boys followed by both varsity teams.
