The North Panola Jr. High team hosted Charleston Thursday night in its second game of the season. The Jr. High Cougars were victorious with a 14-6 win.

The Jr. High teams played four eight-minute quarters. North Panola had the opening possession and kept the ball the entire first quarter.

The first touchdown was on the first play from scrimmage in the second quarter. Jatavious Farmer scored on a one yard run with 7:54 left in the half. The two-point conversion pass failed.

Charleston fumbled its first two possessions away in the second quarter. North Panola’s Gerotney Kelson recovered both, one at the 6:50 mark and one at the 3:15 mark.

He returned the second interception for a touchdown of 32 yards. The two-point conversion was good on a pass from Farmer to Bremarkwon Bobo. The Cougars led 14-0 at halftime.

North Panola fumbled the ball away with five seconds left in the half and also lost a fumble in the third quarter with 3:24 to go.

Charleston found the end zone on a one yard run with 1:51 to go in the third quarter. The two-point conversion was no good.

Darrius Jackson recovered a fumble for the Cougars in the third quarter.

As the field which had received rain on Thursday slowly deteriorated, both teams were guilty of fumbles in the fourth quarter. North Panola lost one on first and goal from the nine and Charleston lost one of three.

The Jr. High Cougars are scheduled to play at Rosa Fort on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. There are two open weeks and they will return home to end the season against Byhalia on October 22.
