When a Diebold computer spit out Batesville’s municipal election results about 8:45 Tuesday night, the vote totals showed a five-vote difference in Ward 2.
The Ward 2 race pitted incumbent alderman Rufus Manley against Ted Stewart.
With Manley barely in the lead, 17 affidavit ballots from Ward 2 will be counted by Batesville’s Democratic Executive Committee Wednesday morning.
Executive committee spokesman David Walker said the affidavits will be examined at 9 a.m. at the county courthouse in Batesville.
In other Batesville races:
•Ward 3 Alderman Stan Harrison won his first full term after handily defeating Percy Bruce. Harrison won 236-133 against Bruce.
•In a Republican primary, Eddie Nabors beat Ken Williams 163 to 45 in a Ward 4 alderman’s race.
Nabors now advances to a June 2 general election, where he will face incumbent Bobbie Jean Pounders.
The Republican primary results were the first results of the evening.
In the city’s primaries, just 24.90 percent of voters turned out to cast a ballot.
